Property Detail
Property Description
This is a one of a kind property that you will not find anywhere else! Here you’ll experience rustic adventure and modern comfort. This lovely little 2 bedroom, plus loft, cottage sleeps up to 8 people. The loft has 2 single beds and are a part of the shared space. The kitchen is fully stocked with amenities and connects to a spacious bar for meals and your private happy hours. A large patio deck with picnic tables faces our private mountain. The Cottage is not in a subdivision or Town lot, but is directly off Trout Creek Pass. It is a peaceful place surrounded by the great outdoors and the view of Mount Princeton is extraordinary! This escape was hand built by Juel and Irene Kjeldsen on the historical grounds which once housed McGee’s Station. Replicas include the narrow gauge railroad station and telegraph office, a Pullman car, caboose, social car and gang car, as well as a water tank, Depot number two, a mercantile and chapel. All stand on the grounds and create the charm of the once wild west outpost. McGee’s station served travelers to and from Leadville during the mining boom in 1880’s. The greater Trout City grounds encompasses 30+ acres of private property, adjacent to many miles of National Forest. This museum to-be is an ongoing re-construction, intended to be a living museum for you and your family to enjoy! The Cottage is only 10 minutes from Buena Vista and the easy highway access is convenient for staging many outdoor adventures available in the area. White water rafting, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, hot springs, streams, 4×4 and atv trails and miles of NF roads are all just minutes from the property. You can visit Buena Vista for shopping, restaurants, and many festivals throughout the summer. Trout Creek runs right through the property and abundant wildlife is all around. Enjoy your mountain getaway.
